In September 2019, the Iznik Foundation — established in 1993 under Prof. Dr. Işıl Akbaygil to preserve and revive the art of authentic Iznik çini, one of the most celebrated traditions of the Ottoman Empire — invited me to explore my artistic language through Iznik tiles at the İznik Vakıf Çinileri workshop in Iznik (historical Nicaea), Turkey.
The designs were created as part of a special collection commissioned by the Foundation and produced at the Iznik Tile & Ceramic Research Center.
The works are available in Miami, USA, and through the Iznik Foundation in Istanbul, Turkey.
Three tile designs from the collection specially created for the Iznik Foundation were produced in September 2019 at the Iznik Tile Ceramic Research Center.
Quartz ceramic, 30 × 30 × 1.2 cm each.
Available in Miami, USA, and at the Iznik Foundation, Istanbul, Turkey.
