Patricia Van Dalen’s Room
In keeping with Ama de Casa’s tradition of honoring the talent of Venezuelan women, we are pleased to dedicate a unique room to the Venezuelan artist Patricia Van Dalen.
This time, the bedroom serves as the foundation for Van Dalen’s artistic proposal. Using Ama de Casa’s most colorful material—our towels—as a starting point, Van Dalen transforms the space with the hues and forms that define her most recent work. The result is an art installation where volume, color, and texture come together in harmony.
Born in Maracaibo and trained in Caracas and Paris, Van Dalen’s career has long explored abstraction, color, and the intervention of architectural spaces. In this experimental work, which she describes as a divertimento, the elements that have supported her practice for over 30 years come together in a playful and innovative format. For this piece, Van Dalen uses towel fabric in four new colors from our collection: Aloe Green, Barbados Blue, Mint Green, and Onoto Red.
For an artist, rest can also be the moment when ideas for creation begin to emerge. As we sleep, inspiration enters our dreams and—much like in art—awakens the imagination.
